IDnow statement on recent articles in the press about opening accounts using fake IDs

In the last few days there has been press coverage regarding identifications performed with fake documents at one of our clients. These issues are not related to IDnow, our VideoIdent or AutoIdent service in any way but to one of our UK-based competitors that our client works with for users outside of Germany.

I would like to reassure you that at IDnow we take security very seriously and all of our products (VideoIdentAutoIdent and eSign) support detailed processes for checking the security features of every document.

During the IDnow VideoIdent process a specifically trained Ident Specialist ensures that the person performing the identification is the owner of the ID card and that the ID document is genuine.

Our fully-automated AutoIdent service, which uses face recognition and fraud detection software to check identities and document authenticity, is also able to detect fraudulent documents thanks to its unique hologram detection capability and other features.

In addition IDnow has invested millions of euros over the last years implementing the most sophisticated counter measures to beat fraudsters and we are constantly improving our services to counter the latest types of attacks.

If you have any further questions on this topic, please feel free to get in touch with your Client Success Manager or Account representative.

Best regards,
Rupert Spiegelberg
CEO, IDnow
